Wines I Want to Taste in 2021

Call me crazy, but yes, I have a Wine Taster's Wish List

This year, I wanted to challenge myself to come out of my comfort zone and look for wines that would challenge my normal. This also includes trying wines from different countries as well as making purchases from different wine stores!!!

For me, this is a BIG DEAL as I would hate to admit it, but I am a creature of habit (when I am not tasting). So what I did was make a list 8 wines (four white, and four red). They can be dry or they can be sweet. They can be sparkling or they can be still. In addition, instead of focusing on one area, I will select wine from different regions.

I am going to share my wish list below. Feel free to participate and share your wish list as well. Maybe there is something on your list I can add to mine! At the end of the year, we will see if I did taste what was on my wish list and whether it was a like or dislike.

Red Wine

Allegrini Amarone della Valpolicella Classico $77.99
This red wine is from the Veneto region of Italy. It is full- bodied with notes of cherry and chocolate.

Caymus Cabernet (specifically the 2018 vintage) $79.97
This is full-bodied cabernet Sauvignon from California. Notes are vanilla, blackberry and jam. From the reviews, it appears this vintage is apparently very "fruity" and "sweet" for a Caymus. I feel it may be because the wine is still young and needs time to develop. However, I want to taste it for myself and compare it to another vintage.

Chapoutier Banyuls  $27.99
This red wine from the Languedoc region of France is sweet and elegant with notes of dark berries.

Penfolds St. Henri Shiraz  $93.99
A red wine from Australia, this is a medium- bodied wine with raspberry and apple notes.

Chateau Musar Red $57.99
Musar Red is from the ancient wine region of Lebanon. All the grapes are hand harvested. The ambient yeasts do the work of fermentation. The red wines are neither fined, nor filtered. Yes, put me down for one!

Antinori Tignanello $139.99
This is the wine that showed the world what a Chianti Classico could do. I have been trying to get my hands on it, but it is always sold out at my favorite spot.

White Wine

Arthur Metz Cremant d'Alsace Brut   $22.99
This sparkling wine from the Alsace region of France is medium- bodied with notes of apple and peach.

Botter Prosecco Frizzante Spago  $14.99
A sparkling wine from the Veneto region of Italy. This is an off- dry wine with notes of honey, apple and grapefruit.

Ropiteau Puligny- Montrachet  $94.99
This is an elegant Chardonnay from Burgundy, France, with notes of Apples and citrus.

Veuve Clicquot Yellow Label Brut Champagne  $51.97
This medium- bodied sparkling wine from Champagne, France is dry with notes of golden apple, peach and biscuit.

Chateau d'Yquem (2016) $449.97
One of the most famous Sauternes in the world, this sweet wine is made from Botrytis- infected grapes.
